I wrote a short piece in my blog yesterday about the life and accomplishments of the Tom Buechner and one of my readers forwarded me a link to a great article from a 2007 issue of the Smithsonian Magazine, written by the influential writer and educator William Zinsser. Titled Two Men and a Portrait, it gives a great account of Mr. Zinsser’s experience in having his portrait painted by Buechner, who was his cousin.
For anyone wanting a little insight into the process that Tom used in his work and how it was viewed by someone who knew him for many, many years, it is a very worthwhile and entertaining read.
