Join us at the West End Gallery this coming Friday, July 20 from 5-7:30 PM, for the opening reception for the exhibit of new paintings from GC Myers. This year’s show, his 12th annual exhibit with the gallery, is titled In Rhythm and consists of over 40 of Myers’ distinctive landscapes including the title piece, a 24″ by 36″ canvas shown here.
This has been a busy year for Myers, the Horseheads artist who began his career right here at the West End Gallery back in 1995, as he has four solo shows, including our show, at galleries in Virginia, Pennsylvania and California plus an exhibit at the prestigious Fenimore Art Museum in Cooperstown, NY. That show, Internal Landscapes: The Paintings of GC Myers, runs from August 17-December 31 at the museum which the USA Today has called one of the “10 best small city museums in the country”.
Myers chose the title, In Rhythm, to describe both the natural rhythm of the terrain in his paintings as well as the rhythm in his process that he attempts to find when painting. He has found both are essential in making work that speaks to the viewer.
The artist will be giving a Gallery Talk here at the West End on August 2, Thursday from noon until around 1 PM. Make your plans now to stop in and take part. It’s always an interesting discussion.
So, we hope to see you this Friday at the West End Gallery. The opening runs from 5-7:30 and there will be music provided by guitarist William Groome. We hope to see you then!
